amc Brock$ is great but CIMER is suitably spacey. Big-up Faex Optim for getting me onto this. Favorite track: Brock$.

Frazer Brown Every once in a while, an LP comes along that touches your heart and soul from the first second to the last. You Slept, I Didn’t is one of those records. An outrageous LP - fragile and emotional, but always beautiful.

One of my favourite albums of 2020. Favorite track: Colleen.

Fringes of Sound It is a haunting and beautiful trip down someone else's memory lane. Favorite track: Jochem & Stacie.

about

Entering through a beaded curtain in my mind’s eye, I’ve not quite engaged again. Dream state. Knock this wicked old world on the head and have an OOBE and reach out to touch the fronds of the ferns that are being drip fed by patches of sunlight. There is no foley in my reverie, only Listener Depleted’s mind bending new album You Slept, I Didn’t.

It’s a spellbinding body of work which pivots around characters significant in LD’s life with each song seemingly building a profile of those nearest and dearest to him, there’s a narrative here, I took Albert and saw him writing poetry at a war memorial at dusk as he lazily shoos off a squirrel scuffling round his Eastpak, he’s writing about Carlos Castaneda and is slightly miffed that The Teachings Of Don Juan could be a work of fiction. I pictured Jochem & Stacie back at their apartment after a mega night out and now the sun is rising and they’re not sure if the music has finished or if it’s the sound of the fridge, they have no obligations for the rest of the day so the fridge plays on. Then there’s the overwhelming love evident in Colleen that had me penning “The wavelength they are on is a surfer’s paradise”.

The music is poetic and evokes fond memories, there’s also hope here and when you listen I guarantee you’ll not only be moved by the depth of feeling, but you’ll be able to tie them to your own experiences and press play on your own private psychedelic reel.

about

Listener Depleted Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This project is a means to explore the excitement of my youth when I first discovered a 4-track in Cerk's basement. The music is new and I can only hope I can rediscover the magic I felt when the door to recording first opened. I may be just going through a mid-life crisis if i am to die at age 76. Hopefully you will enjoy this stuff as much as I do. Leave comments on the facebook link. ... more
